Wings Alumni Program

Alumni Program

Wings - Providing lone soldiers with the tools they need to enter Israeli society as confident and active citizens.

The Wings Alumni Program continues to grow and July and August were full of great social events for released lone soldiers.

In July, the Alumni Program organized two summer Israeli BBQ events, one in Gan Saker, Jerusalem, and the second in Park Hayarkon, Tel Aviv.  More than 60 participants in each event ate well, played music and sports, helped with the cooking and preparations and had a great time!  They also had a special treat waiting for them – free massage stations provided by the Reidman Institute!

At the end of July we finished the Entrepreneurship Course.  The course included 10 meetings and around 13 participants were present throughout the course.  The course gave the participants valuable tools and knowledge on entrepreneurship in Israel, how to develop an idea into a business, and getting to know the Israeli start-up scene.

Culinary Group:

Food is a great way to mix and meet!  We definitely know this from our very successful Culinary group.
This group started a few months ago, with the aim of showing released lone soldiers Israeli culture through food.
Our small country Israel is full of different cultures and foods from all over the world and has developed its own special flavors and tastes.
The participants in this group had a chance to taste, cook, bake and try all that Israel has to offer – from organic farms, Bnei Brak Hasidic bakeries, a shuk tour and seminars on how to bake challah and cook shakshuka and humus!

Sports Group:

Of course, food isn’t the only thing that connects people.  The Sports Group of the Wings Program in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem were set up a few months ago and every week they keep getting bigger and bigger!
Jason Blankfield, himself a former lone soldier from the elite 669 unit and a professional trainer, leads the group through challenging workouts.  At the end of each session, a support workshop happens – where participants can talk about the challenges and opportunities of life after the army, and offer support and advice to others.
Our participants finish the sessions tired but with smiles on their faces!
