Wings Alumni Progream– Final event

The Graduate Program, stemming from a wonderful partnership with the Ministry of Immigration and Absorption, has now concluded its first successful year. It has certainly been a challenging year, a time of learning and experience, with lone olim soldiers, either newly discharged or well into their civilian lives, joining the Knafaim family through the Graduate Program.

Moments before we drew the final curtain on 2017, we invited the program participants who attend activities throughout the year to a double event: a yearly summary and candle lighting ceremony on the sixth night of Chanukah. The event, held in Cinema City in Jerusalem in the VIP suite, was attended by 140 lone olim

discharged soldiers that arrived from the central area of Israel and Jerusalem.

These lone olim soldiers received the warm appreciation and thanks of Immigration and Absorption Minister Sofa Landver, as the issue of lone soldiers is dear to her heart and she wanted to personally meet the program graduates. The event was also attended by a close friend of the Knafaim Program, previously a lone soldier himself, MK Michael Oren, who also said the prayers during the candle lighting.

We mentioned a double event, but it was a triple event, as in addition to celebrating the year's end and Chanukah, that evening also marked the premier release of the new Star Wars movie…and we did invite everyone to Cinema City.

So, what did the evening entail?

The guests enjoyed the opportunity to mingle before the minister's remarks and the candle lighting, and later enjoyed a brief lecture – "How to crack Israeli DNA"- by Michal Doktor, an organizational consultant and group facilitator in the Knafaim Guidance Center. We later enjoyed with a buffet dinner of delicious dishes and treats, and of course a private screening of the movie in the VIP suite.

A wonderful and successful conclusion for a very interesting year in the Knafaim Graduate Program, and a happy start to our 2018 activities.
